A dark spirit broods over the old Wanless site. A sign posted just beyond the intersection where the old road rises to the tower site reads:

'Notice! This property under 24hr motion and video surveillance!'

H'mm the batteries in the electronic surveillance devices have certainly improved to be so reliable and long lived in an area with no connection to the power grid.

Also someone has carefully created obstacles to travel on the road to the tower site: a culvert ripped up out of the ground, boulders, brush and logs strewn about the road. Additionally, trenches dug into the road (designed it seemed to me to erode larger in the rain) Minnesota Historical Society

A final curiosity, a new sign announcing the location of a survey monument - 1 ft to the south - stood next to a large hole.

Someone covered the entire road (1/2 mile) to the former tower site with debris which makes travel to the site difficult.
