The Toivola tower location surprised me. I found a hole in the ground. Gravel had been taken fromt the site. Trucks had removed the little hill. I found a for sale sign from the State of Minnesota with a telephone number to call. I visited on a gloomy winter day. Perhaps I return when spring flower blossom.

TOIVOLA Township bears a Finnish name, equivalent to "Hopeville" or "Land of Promise," given by Thomas Arkkola, a pioneer immigrant from Finland. The village had a post office, 1913-74, continuing as a community post office since 1974. Toijala is a village in the southwest part of that country. Minnesota Historical Society

The only hint a tower may have stood here once is this sign. The sign stands next to the hole. If interested, call the number.

As I approached, I drove by the headquarters of a small excavating company. Most likely, they created the little pit.
