Sioux River
 Zoom level:   Number of Photographs:

A photo-chronicle hike into the former Sioux River Fire Lookout Tower within the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area. The trail is now part of the Sioux Hustler Wilderness hiking trail.

The cabin site for the lookout guard lies about 1 mile from the tower. The site currently serves as a designated campsite above Devil's Cascade. Look carefully you will find evidence of concrete footings and bricks from a chimney!

We found remains of the old telephone line. Telephone lines connected all Lookout towers, no matter how remote. Source: Outing, vol LXXIX #3, December 1921 pg 107
